Overview

FlixVault is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app connects directly to media servers on your local network. Your files, credentials, and viewing activity never leave your device or your network.

Data We Collect

We collect no data. FlixVault does not have servers, analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind. Specifically:

  • No personal information is collected
  • No usage data or analytics are gathered
  • No cookies or tracking pixels are used
  • No data is shared with third parties
  • No advertising SDKs are included

Data Stored on Your Device

FlixVault stores the following data locally on your device to function:

  • Server credentials — Usernames and passwords for your media servers are stored securely in the iOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential storage.
  • Source configuration — Server addresses, ports, share names, and display names are stored in a local database on your device.
  • Playback state — Resume positions and playback history are stored locally so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Downloaded files — Any files you download for offline viewing are stored in the app's sandboxed storage on your device.

Network Activity

FlixVault communicates only with servers on your local network that you explicitly configure. The app uses the following protocols to connect to your servers:

  • SMB (Server Message Block) — for Windows/Samba shares
  • FTP — for FTP servers

No data is transmitted to any external servers, cloud services, or third parties. All communication stays within your local network.

Biometric Authentication

FlixVault optionally uses Face ID or Touch ID to protect individual sources. Biometric data is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework — FlixVault never accesses, stores, or transmits your biometric data.

Local Network Access

FlixVault requests permission to access your local network in order to discover and connect to your media servers. This permission is required for the app to function. No internet access is required.

Children's Privacy

FlixVault does not collect any data from any users, including children under the age of 13.

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the changes on this page with an updated revision date.
